Disco Daisy

Equipped with a good subject, a sound photograph, and a palette of creative ideas and technical tools, Hockett endeavors to animate the ordinary flower.

"Playing with the fundamentals of design — splashes of rich color, organic and artificial shapes, and multidirectional lines — for instance, to create a contemporary image that is fun to behold is the pursuit,” she says.

Hockett adds, "The square frame is the new black. It’s stylish. Showing off a subject in the square format is a bit more challenging than using traditional aspect ratios, but with the right subject and composition, it is a wonderful presentation."

As part of the 2021 Members' Print Exhibition, which is shown at various locations around the UK, Hockett’s “Disco Daisy” was chosen for the Square Images Collection and will be published in February’s Visual Art Magazine.
