Hockett’s “Barred Owl No. 1” was captured while attending a workshop hosted by The Raptor Conservancy of Virginia during the Nature Visions Photo Expo. The non—profit organization affords shutterbugs a unique opportunity to photograph their feathered residents.

Raptors, such as the Barred Owl, Harris’s Hawk, and the Peregrine Falcon are built for swift flying and keen hunting, but they also display individual charms that are fascinating to see up close and personal.
